Appointment of YB Nik Nazmi bin Nik Ahmad as a Member of the State Executive Council

I wish to congratulate YB Nik Nazmi bin Nik Ahmad on his appointment as a member of the State Executive Council today.
In observing and abiding by the doctrine of separation of powers, I confirm that I have received YB Nik Nazmi’s resignation as the Deputy Speaker this morning. I thank YB Nik Nazmi for his co-operation and contribution as my Deputy Speaker in the last 15 months in ensuring the smooth running of the State Legislative Assembly and specifically for the setting up of Program ADUN Muda Selangor. I am certain his youth, enthusiasm and zeal will be valuable to the new administration of the Selangor State Government.
As Speaker, I look forward to working with the new Dato’ Menteri Besar of Selangor YAB Tuan Azmin Ali in continuing to safeguard the independence of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly and will continue to work on the reforms of the Assembly namely to pass the Selangor Legislative Assembly Service Commission Enactment (SELESA) bill or its equivalent. The SELESA bill will ensure the management and administration of the House are independent of the executive.
